Do You Garden?

I have never really been a “plant person,” and in fact, I actually considered myself the reason why I couldn’t keep the simplest houseplant alive. Since my oldest has entered the landscape architecture field, I have found myself “cultivating” an interest.

Our new home, having been built in the mid-century-1960 time period, has a ton of light – sliders everywhere – which makes it a very fun space to introduce plants of all types.  I must say … if I can keep plants alive, anyone can … and I NOW know that I CAN.

Clean air – calm … nature has a way of giving us this peace in our crazy lifestyles.  There really is an odd joy in the tiny roots sprouting on the stem of the cutting that’s propagating in the window … trust me, there really IS. Even stepping outside and putting bare toes in the grass – it’s super cheap therapy for the stress that follows us.

I encourage you … even if you KNOW your thumb is - let’s say, less than green … get a plant.  Spend a minute each day taking care of it … it’s so very important in this world of technology and traffic to get to the quiet, basic things … a/k/a “roots” (Ha!  Pun intended!).

Now go find some dirt to play in --- Whit
